$100,000 ?????
Who in their right mind would claim an 8 year old gelding for $100,000? The answer is Paul P. Pompa, Jr., who claimed Spooky Mulder today in the 3rd race at Aqueduct. Spooky is one of the horses that made me love racing. In 63 starts, he has 25 wins, 15 places and 2 shows for total winnings of about $670,000. He seems to be getting better with age, with 2 firsts and 2 seconds in his last 4 starts. Good luck to the new owner. I hope Mr. Pompa continues to run Spooky in New York so I can see him again in person.

Yes, strange but even stranger was the fact that he beat Breeders Cup winner Silver Train. Another effort like that and the price may not seem strange at all?
