How can you say "NO" to George Steinbrenner and the Preakness? Apparently, it is no big deal for jockey Jeremy Rose. Rose (through his agent) has said that if he can't work out the logistics, he would rather ride in a $75,000 race in Delaware, than ride Hemmingways Key (trained by Nick Zito and owned by George Steinbrenner)
Edgar Prado threw out the first pitch before the Yankees game against the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium on May 11, 2006. I guess he can't say no to George Steinbrenner.
The NTRA needs to take a look at Japanese horse racing. One of the most famous athletes in Japan is jockey Yutaka Take. Fans fill the grandstands and paddock just to get a glimpse of this guy. See what happens when you market the jockeys?
Apprentice Rosie Napravnik won 5 races on Thursday. That is impressive, but that was just the start of a three day stretch (Thursday, Friday, Saturday). After today's mounts, she had 13 wins, and a total of 17 times in the money. Not a bad three days for an apprentice.
Alex Solis won 3 consecutive stakes races at Hollywood Park today.
No wins today for Jorge Chavez at Monmouth today. He did have a second and a third. Hopefully tomorrow win bring a trip to the winners circle.
