"Adieu, a Grade 1 winner and Eclipse Award finalist as a two-year-old in 2005, died on June 17.
Dermot Ryan, manager of Coolmore’s Ashford Stud in Versailles, Kentucky, said he would wait for an official report before commenting on the cause of her death.
Adieu delivered her first foal, a healthy Giant’s Causeway filly, on January 24."
I took this photo of her on June 10, 2006 in the paddock before the Acorn Stakes at Belmont.
Adieu was the favorite but finished fourth that day. I specifically remember the race because of the confusion at the starting gate.
"Nine arrived at the gate for the Acorn, but only seven started. The start was delayed for several minutes because Miraculous Miss flipped in the gate and became cast, and she struck Wonder Lady Anne L, who was in an adjacent stall, during the commotion. Those two fillies were scratched, and the remaining seven runners had to be removed from the gate as the starting gate crew worked to free Miraculous Miss."
Condolences to the connections of Adieu.

Awww---the pic
Fine filly
Liked Adieu a lot. And I remember that race well, having used both Miraculous Miss and Wonder Anne, a favorite of mine, in exactas. Was very glad to hear that they were both OK.
I'm curious to hear what happened to Adieu. Thanks for writing about her and the photo.
I also remember that race well and am very curious to hear what happened. She will be missed.
Thanks for posting the information. I liked Adieu as well.
