Saratoga - The Top of the Stretch

During my trip to Saratoga this year, I traveled with a Saratoga-savvy sort that introduced me to areas of the property that I didn't see on my first visit. One of these places was the top of the stretch. This is a really fun place to be if you don't care much about seeing the finish.

The view of the grandstand, the track and the sky is majestic from this angle.

Here they come in the 6th race on Friday 8/15/08.

And there they go. At the finish, the #7 Trinity Magic, wins his first time out for Steve Asmussen.

Our friend Ernie is performing all day Saturday right in this spot. I can't be there, but if you are, please request some blues for me.

When I was in high school, the top of the stretch was our spot. Whenever I went to the races, I knew that if I went there, I'd find any friends who might also be at the races that day. Haven't been up there in ages, but I agree: the view is terrific.

Great to see you--sorry that we lost each other after the Alabama...

What a day you chose to attend!!!

It eats at me---I can't say I was there for that Alabama, an embarrassing omission in my PPs.

Good luck tomorrow
