Ah Day Repeats

After an eight month vacation, Ah Day, (Maryland's 2006 Horse of the Year) returned with a big win at Laurel Park. The 5 year old Gelding won the Fire Plug Stakes for the second year in a row.

Ah Day, sired by Malibu Moon, is now an eight-time stakes winner. He ran four times last year, winning the Fire Plug Stakes, finishing third in the Grade I Carter Handicap at Aqueduct, and placing second in the Grade II General George at Laurel and the Grade II Churchill Downs Handicap on Kentucky Derby Day.

After his race last May, Ah Day developed a rear end problem, and was given a few months off.

Congrats to trainer King Leatherbury (owner and trainer) on the win today.

Hey,

Came across your blog, saw you focus some attention on Maryland racing. I do also, both just to follow the racing and handicapping ( my blog is in the url spot ).

Ah Day looked very good yesterday, perfect prep for the General George so long as the effort didn't drain him because he ran a very big speed figure ( if you put faith in them ) on some charts.

Look forward to contributing.
