Public Service Announcement

We haven't had much to say around here lately. Hopefully, everyone has found the new feed for the Thoroughbred Bloggers Alliance ("TBA"). This is an incredible resource of wonderful thoughts by really smart people devoted to horse racing.

And now a word from our sponsors. The TBA is sponsored by Twinspires, Trainer Magazine and TVG. Please visit these sites if you read any TBA blogs.

The TBA makes a donation each year to Old Friends in the name of the TBA Horse of the Year. The HOY is determined by a very reasonable points system. Top contenders for HOY right now are Big Brown (635), Curlin (560), Ginger Punch (555), Zenyatta (525), Proud Spell (520) and Indian Blessing (512).

A great new racing resource is the Raceday 360 wire. This incredibly informative site aggregates a wide variety of racing content in one easy-to-use page.

Another great resource is Steve Byk's radio show which is broadcast on Sirius Satellite Radio and the internet. I don't get to listen as much as I used to, but Steve's show gets the best guests and always discusses the hot topics.

Congratulations to the connections of Bug Boys favorite, Spectacular Malibu. She won the Maryland Million Distaff on Saturday. I don't recall seeing any Malibu Moon daughters producing foals yet. This will certainly be an angle we follow in the future.

I have tried to reach Roddy Valente through the internet to find out exactly why he is retiring Bustin Stones after the Breeders Cup. So far, I have received no response. I am so disappointed at this news and I don't understand the economics. Why would he retire a moderately successful NY-bred colt to NY farm at a low stud fee when another year on the track could reasonably produce 500k+ in purses and enhance the stud fee?

Tin Cup Chalice
is awesome! Being a gelding, at least we know he will stick around next year as long as he is healthy.

Congrats on the Distaff win, Chica tired in the stretch unfortunately. Malibu ran a great race and beat a solid horse in All Giving.

Thanks for the Wire link!

Here's to hoping Tin Cup Chalice stays sound. He's an emerging NY-bred star after the Indiana Derby ...
